Well done to all the children who represented OLOR at the Hills Zone Swimming Carnival on Thursday. They displayed great sporting attitude and tried their best. Some of our relay teams were able to walk away on the day with some great results. We look forward to sharing more about our achievements, and acknowledging our Zone squad at our Week 7 assembly.

Last Friday, we gathered together as a school community to celebrate Mass for the Commencement of the School Year. Fr Christian encouraged us to live with joy and show love and care for others, just as Jesus did for the children in the Gospel reading. We also welcomed and asked for God's blessing on our new students and staff, and commissioned our 2025 student leaders. Thank you to Fr Christian, all the staff and students who helped prepare and lead our celebration, and the many parents and friends who celebrated with us.

It was great to have Fr Chris join us for assembly last Friday, and stay behind to say hello to Kindergarten at the end of their first full week of school. We look forward to Fr Chris joining us throughout the year as he visits classes, celebrates Masses with the parish and the school, and drops in from time to time. Question of the day goes to the Kindergarten child who asked Fr Chris the trickiest theological question: "Have you seen God?"

All parents and carers are invitied to join us for our Mass to celebrate the Commencement of the School Year on Friday 21 February at 11:30 am. At the conclusion of the Mass, we will ask God's blessing upon our new students and staff, as well as commission our 2025 Student Leaders.

Throughout 2024, we worked as a school to put our faith into action through works of service; living out our school's Founding Values. In Term 4, families across our school community generously donated food to our Christmas Appeal, supporting David's Place and Vinnies NSW. We recently received a Certificate of Appreciation from the St Vincent de Paul society in gratitude for our school's contributions. Thank you to everyone who supported this appeal and made a difference to people's lives at Christmas time.

On Friday, as we do at the start of every school year, the staff of our parish primary schools gathered together to celebrate Mass. It is a wonderful opportunity for the staff of OLOR and St Angela's Primary School to gather together as Catholic learning communities and dedicate themselves to living the mission of Jesus through the vocation of education. The staff of OLOR look forward to welcoming students in Years 1-6 for their first day back tomorrow (Tuesday 4 February) and our new Kindergarten students on Thursday (6 Feburary).
